The Scottish physician and surgeon James Braid first began to use the word ‘hypnosis’, derived from the Greek word for sleep in the 1840’s. Braid is regarded by many as the father of modern medical therapeutic hypnosis and much of the practice of modern clinical hypnotherapy has developed from his earlier work.
Hypnotherapy uses the hypnotic state in a therapeutic framework for you to improve your life, change unwanted habits or behaviours, to reduce stress and anxiety or phobic responses. Clinical Therapeutic Hypnotherapy is also widely used for medical, psychological and emotional concerns, such as pain reduction, dealing with trauma, reducing symptoms of functional disorders and to improve general health and well-being.

Appointments are conducted over 4 – 6 weeks except for Quit Smoking which are 2 appointments over a 2 week period and each session is tailored to the individual client using a combination of hypnotherapy, NLP and cognitive behavioural therapy.
